DURHAM -- Durham County elections Director Mike Ashe was to bear surgery on his wrist Monday at Duke Hospital after he was strike by a car Friday.
Ashe, 63, was struck at 11:55 a.m. whilst crossingBuchanan Boulevard at Main Street, according to Durham Police mouthpiece Kammie Michael.
Deputy Director Michael Perry pronounced Ashe was receiving a lunchtime run when he was hit. He had injuries together with a damaged foot, wrist, rib and collarbone as well as a low cut to the head.
Perry pronounced Ashe primarily told his staff he would be behind at the bureau Friday afternoon, but physicians suggested him otherwise.
The collision stays underneath investigation.
No charges have been filed opposite Francis Vernon Chestnut of Burlington, the motorist of the 2003 Ford that strike Ashe, Michael said.
